Simplifying interactions with the government in Ukraine
To move away from slow, bureaucratic procedures and paper-based processes, in 2020 the Ukrainian government launched Diia — an internet portal and mobile app for individuals to access digital documents and government services and make payments to the government.
Action
Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation partnered with Visa’s Cybersource solution to enable digital acceptance of payments from individuals and businesses (e.g., fines, taxes, government service fees).
Card-based payments above a certain threshold were processed with Cybersource through a direct connection with VisaNet.
Status
Thanks to its streamlined payments process and many other conveniences, the platform rapidly gained popularity, reaching more than 13 million users by early 2022.¹
